So I finally have Red Dead Redemption. I will try to get through some of the storyline in this game, but I know it will be competing with Call of Duty: Black Ops and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
I never played Red Dead Revolver. I’m not sure what the connection may be between that game and Red Dead Redemption. But we’ll see as time goes if it even matters. Maybe this game holds up on its own.
So far, I’ve rode a train, rode a horse, got shot, met a girl named Bonnie who runs a ranch, shot some rabbits and coyotes, traveled by buggy to the nearest town, bought some medicine, and went to sleep. That pretty much summed it up for now. But all that took quite a while.
My first thoughts:
I haven’t been playing long enough to see what the storyline may be. So far I’m not seeing much. But what’s there is great if you don’t have over expectations.
If feels more like a Wild West simulator more than a game where you’re pushed through a storyline. I’m able to do as I want for the most part so far.
The mechanics:
Great game so far. The camera has thrown me around a little bit. But mostly in the terms of focus, not angle. Shooting is getting easiler, though I would have complained a little at first.
I’m wondering how long it will take before I start seeing repeated content or cut scenes (skinning an animal, for instance).
