After all of the fuss over the antenna problem with the iPhone 4, Apple has announced the following on their website:
iPhone 4 Bumpers are currently unavailable for sale.
Apple will offer a free iPhone 4 Bumper or other select cases to iPhone 4 customers. Details on how to order a free Bumper or case will be available soon on apple.com.
Made of durable rubber and molded plastic, the two-tone iPhone 4 Bumper fits snugly around the edges of your iPhone 4 and gives it a splash of color. It’s a fun and unique way to personalize your iPhone 4.
I was just reading up on some news about Walk Disney Co. acquiring Marvel Comics, Inc. for the amount of 4 BILLION DOLLARS. That’s a lot of money.
That means if the average person saved his money, didn’t pay his bills, didn’t eat or buy clothes – didn’t speand ANY of his money…
…he could also buy Marvel in 114,285 years.
4,000,000,000 / 35,000 (~US National Average) = 114,285.71
If every person living in the United States contributed $13 each, then we could buy Marvel.
4,000,000,000 / 306,557,000 (~Estimated US Population) = 13.048
Either way. One concern that may come to mind is the mix of Marvel and Disney. Could this be the end of Marvel as we know it? Will Disney “kiddify” what has been happening with the Marvel characters over the last few years in the theaters. I think not.
Disney seems to be very business-savvy. I don’t think they would break what is working right after they buy it. They seem to have done a good job with ABC since acquiring it.
This probably has something to do with the audience that Disney primarily shoots for… and who they want to reach. They have the girl demographic. But I think the boys feel a little left out… unless they really like princess movies.
I feel this is the main reason for the acquisition. To add more content for the boys watching Disney.
EDIT: I found this quote…
“We believe that adding Marvel to Disney’s unique portfolio of brands provides significant opportunities for long-term growth and value creation. The acquisition of Marvel offers us a similar opportunity to advance our strategy and to build a business that is stronger than the sum of it’s parts. [These shows are] right in the wheelhouse for boys.”
