Angry Birds

Angry Birds
Status: Now playing as of 2010-11-05

Official Description: The survival of the Angry Birds is at stake. Dish out revenge on the green pigs who stole the Birds’ eggs. Use the unique destructive powers of the Angry Birds to lay waste to the pigs’ fortified castles. Angry Birds features hours of gameplay, challenging physics-based castle demolition, and lots of replay value. Each of the 195 levels requires logic, skill, and brute force to crush the enemy.

My Thoughts: The hype is understandable. I’ve been working away at the levels in this game. It keeps getting better. At each stage, I’m just trying to make it to the next level. Getting three stars on each level will be “tomorrow’s battle”. This game is $0.99 on the app store. Cheap for such a great little game.

Further Thoughts: Will update soon…

Cut the Rope

Cut the Rope
Status: Now playing as of 2010-10-25

Official Description: A mysterious package has arrived, and the creature inside has only one request…CANDY! Help get the candy to Om Nom, the adorable monster, in this highly innovative and addictive puzzle game. Combining outstanding physics, devilishly tricky levels, and bright colorful visuals, Cut the Rope is one of the most original and fun-filled games on the App Store.

My Thoughts: Quickly a favorite. Great graphics. Great physics. Very intuitive game play! The full version has over 100 levels and it says that more are coming soon. Cutting ropes never gets old! This puzzle game is well worth the $0.99 on the app store.

Further Thoughts: Specifics on my game-play experience will be in my blog posts listed in the Cut the Rope category.

Trainyard Express

Trainyard Express
Status: Now playing as of 2010-10-25

Official Description: Trainyard Express is a puzzle solving game unlike any that you’ve ever played. It’s easy to learn but very tough to master. Your job is simple: get each train to a goal station. Red trains go to red stations, blue trains go to blue stations, etc. You control the trains by drawing track for them to follow. There isn’t a time limit or even a score; the only thing you need to do is figure out a solution for each puzzle.
My Thoughts: Nice little puzzle game. It advances in difficulty nicely. It starts off very simple and then adds color mixing and timing into the game. And it has a set of tutorials placed through the game to help the user learn how to place the tracks.

As of 2010-10-25, I’m on the New Brunswick, Box Seven level. So I’m sure it will continue to get harder. Though, it doesn’t appear to have too many more levels. We’ll see.

I do not feel a compulsive sense to finish it all in one sitting. It’s a game that I will play through here and there. But I still like the game.

Setting some of the tracks can be cumbersome at times. And there appears to be a glitch when you receive a phone call while playing the game. I had to shut the game completely down to get my sounds back in-game.

Further Thoughts: I’ll just have fun with this one over the next few months. I’ll just slowly progress through it.
