Father’s Day
This morning I woke up to presents from the family. Bekah handed me a bag, and then took the liberty to take everything out for me to see.
For an early present, my wife gave me a grill. Now my girls gave meacessories for me to use while I grill.
On another note, I was pulled over today for not wearing my seatbelt. I took it off in order to reach and grab something at a red light. Then it turned green. So I continued on
The Corner
Every parent uses their own methods to teach their children responsibility, right and wrong, and consequences for actions.
One method we use for Bekah is time-out / standing in the corner. Often this is a light punishment geared towards stopping and resetting. We have her count to "20" while standing in the corner. It usually involves "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 20" and then a peak to see if we are looking.
Sometimes she says every number and counts all the way to "30".
Well, after our session this evening, Bekah counted through it and was done.
Rachael apparently saw her and followed by voluntarily standing in the corner and saying "dah, dah, dah" and then peeking to see if we were watching.
It was quite funny. Which led to a laugh. Which led her to repeating herself.
McDonald’s with the Girls
Eating McDonald's with the family. Bekah and Rachael have been playing in the playground. It's already hot outside.
And on another note, sausage biscuits were on sale today.
Simple July 4th
I spent this July 4th weekend at my mom's house. We just relaxed. No fireworks. No cookouts. Just relaxed.
Last night, we got Bekah a little swimming pool to play in. She loves to swim while it's hot outside. I honestly think the weather might have nothing to do with it. We'll see come Fall. I tried out the Domino's Pizza online ordering service for our supper. It was delivered in 30mins. Very nice. Easy AND quick.
So You Think You Can dance was our TV pick for the weekend. We had to catch up from the last 3 weeks. Any other watchers out there?
Jumping Pile
We raked leaves today in the front yard. I gave Bekah a little rake and I had a big rake. She enjoyed moving the leaves around for about ten minutes.
Then she saw the pile of leaves that started to form. Down went the rake.
Bekah’s Morning Chores
We have Bekah working hard this morning helping out with some of the housework. But I think she enjoys it.
Bekah and Green Crayons
I was cleaning around the house while Bekah was watching one of her kids music dvd's this morning.
She was playing with her toys and crayons and books.
Today she decided to chew on one of the green crayons. She has it all over her face and on her clothes.
This is the first time that I've really caught her eating the crayons. She's done so good till now.
Bekah and the Dentist
We took Bekah to her first dentist appointment today. I wasn't sure how she was going to handle all of the little tools that the dentist uses.
Between the noises and the feel of the water suction tools, I was assuming that she would shy away, or maybe even cry.
Brushing her teeth hasn't been terribly hard. The battle hasn't been whether or not she brushes her teeth, just the question of who does it. Her? or Us?
She's already Miss Independent.
Well the ladies at the dentist's office were very fun with Bekah. They showed her each of the tools and let her touch each one.
By the time they were done, she was happy to play with them.
And then looking at her teeth wasn't difficult either.
Overall, I think she had a great time at the dentist. She may actually enjoy going back.
Leaving Bekah with a Babysitter
Amanda and I are leaving Bekah with a babysitter for the first time while we go to the movies.
We've left her with her Grandmothers before... but that's it.
It feels weird.
