Go to StarCraft class

StarCraftWire.net

I thought that this was great for all of those people who wished that gaming would become more than just something kids did at home instead of homework.

What if it WAS your homework??

Take a look at this article and this article about the college course started for the PC game, StarCraft.

Aside from sounding great, one comment may shed a little light on the reality of a gamer's dream.

Aeralindor states,

As someone who has taken these DECal courses (Democratic Education in Cal) before, it's not a "real" class. It's run by students and while you do get credit, it's general education credit (usually 1-2 units) and it's basically used as filler. I'll admit that two of the most interesting classes I took while I was a student at Cal (Fencing and History of Punk Rock) were DECals, they aren't taught by professors or even graduate students, and I wouldn't consider it an "offical" class.

That all being said, those taking the class should have a great time for those 1-2 units they're getting :)

WoW Patch 3.0.8 – First since WotLK

Blizzard has released their first  patch for the WoW expansion, The Wrath of the Lich King.  This new patch includes quite a few changes that I think are great.  Read down to the full post for all of the patch notes that Blizzard posted in the WoW Client.

The first one that is most notable is about Death Knights.  I foresee a LOT of Death Knights being created. Now you can instantly have a Level 55 toon on a new server. This is an advantage that I think is not desired. But for those who honestly want to roll a Death Knight, having to run another toon just to begin your 'real' character isn't desired either.

"Players may now create death knights on any realm once they reach level 55."

For those Tauren's who wanted to ride a Hawkstrider, or the Night Elves who wanted to ride a Mechanostrider, you now can!

"Racial restrictions on mounts have now been lifted. Night Elves on mechanostriders? Tauren on raptors? You're not seeing things."

I'm going to need someone to fill me in on this a little.  Someone who can actually use this.  But it sounds like it might be  kind of neat. Maybe.

"World of Warcraft now supports 3-D imaging. Visit http://www.nvidia.com/object/GeForce_3D_Vision_Main.html for more information."

WoW Action Figures

For those who love WoW for the artwork and characters, this may interest you.  Blizzard has released another series for the World of Warcraft Action Figures [Official Blizzard Page].

I like them because of the detail and artistic interpretations.

Being that I'm a WoW fan mainly for the storyline and creative artwork and design, these are great to look at. I'm not going to say that I'm moved to the point to pull out my wallet though.

But I will say that if they would make a Blood Elfe Shadow Priest, then I might have to make a purchase. But before that time, probably not.

Here's a few of my favorites (in no particular order):

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft Logo

World of Warcraft Logo

Should I do it? I've stayed away from it for many reason for such a long time. I didn't want to get sucked in to this side of gaming. The massive multi-player online role playing games... role playing...eh. Not really into that.

I see the typical "cliche" WoW kid as a complete turn-off as many others do. The problem: that cliche is wrong.

I've come to realize that WoW is a game with vast options of play-style. I don't have to "role play". I don't have to fight other real-life players. I don't have to just kill lots of "monsters". I don't have to spend hours upon hours to enjoy the game. I don't have to pay extra money to compete with other players' advancements. I don't have to play alone. I don't have to play with other people. I don't have to quest throughout the whole game... ...I don't have to. But I can if I want.

This game, as I'm discovering, is made upon the option of "options". And it's not just a kid game either. This game probably has large percentage of it's 9 millions players credited to 30 year olds on average. I want to get those stats. But most of the people I've talked to are not kids. And they treat the game as serious as a nice game of Scrabble... or Tournament Chess. You pick one.

Either way. I now have an account and I'm trying it out first-person.
