This last weekend I went with a group of guys from El Dorado Cycling (Edit: previously The Bicycle Shop) in El Dorado, Arkansas to the Hotter-N-Hell 100. We left Friday morning and drove 8 hours to Witchita Falls, Texas.

The Hotter-N-Hell 100 is a Road Bicycle ride through the outskirts of Witchita Falls, Texas... while in over 100 degree heat and over 100 miles.

We started riding Saturday morning around 7:00am. Over 9500 cyclists rode through the starting gate. My number was 9590. I found a position in the middle of the pack... and got a good start.

I finished in 5 hrs and 33 mins and averaged 18.8mph. This is better than I had anticipated... since this was my first road bike event and my first ride over 12 miles on my new Trek 1200, and my first time to ride farther that 60 miles in one sitting.

I'll post some pictures soon.
